re: The Thing That Went Out Last Week.

First off, thanks for all the nice words and feedback… It’s been somewhat surreal this past week, encountering friends and strangers that saw it and liked it. I never set out to write something with the intent of having it go viral or blow up or whatever you’d want to call it. So, thanks… it’s weird, and nice and I’m horrible at taking positive feedback/compliments.

I do wish to clear up one thing, and that’s the other bars I’ve mentioned. At no point in that rant did I implicate that the bars I mentioned were at fault for anything. Everyone works hard at those bars and are sweet, kind people. They are doing “the big work” and it bums me out that anyone would think I was throwing them under the bus or slamming them for merely existing. To take it a step further, I’ve encountered plenty of kind patrons not only at Danny’s but at bars/restaurants all over town. I thought this was clear, but it seems it isn’t. I was speaking on a percentage of the clientele that has a tendency to not really consider the people surrounding them, and can bring down the vibe of “a good time, out on the town.” I only made mention of those places because a) I go to those places b) I was going to those places before and after they started getting extra attention and c) while at those places, I would witness some grotesque behavior by some (SOME, NOT ALL) patrons that resonated with my gig at the bar.

Also, I’m fully aware that any sort of epilogue will never get reblogged as much as the original piece.  I just didn’t want anyone to think that I was ignoring the potentially mixed signals of said piece.

thanks,

sowley
