when he was a younger man, he saw Charles Mingus perform in a club. He saw Roland Kirk sitting in the club, and went over and “played it cool” with him. When he was a young dad he snuck into a theater to watch Mountain soundcheck. Said it was the loudest thing he’d ever heard.
