A few weeks ago I was talking about the Occupy movement with BFF Boy Division and he suggested something that has been sticking with me more and more as the days go by. Instead of people taking up residence in the streets as protest, (or in addition to, I see no reason why one can’t happen instead of the other) leaving guillotines in public spaces to send a much stronger message. Not working ones obviously. As a bit of political theatre, what isn’t perfect about this idea? Could you imagine the bone chills that would happen at the sight of fifty guillotines lined up in front of the Chicago Board of Trade? One put in front of every Bank of America in Manhattan? It would be amazing. It could be like a 99%, art installation version of a reverse panopticon, reminding the few that they are surrounded by the masses everywhere.

I love this idea. I want to have this idea’s babies.

this is a brilliant idea.
